Connect Dublin, a fiber splicing and STEM innovation day will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Coffman Park Pavilion, 5200 Emerald Pkwy, to highlight the initial installation of altafiber’s fiber optics in neighborhoods across the city.

City of Dublin Mayor Chris Amorose Groomes, along with representatives from altafiber, will speak at the ceremony.

“We are committed to creating a connected and innovative community for all of our residents,” says Mayor Amorose Groomes. Events like this are a great intersection of information and entertainment. We want people to enjoy hands-on STEM activities while also learning about Dublin’s plans to be the most connected city in the U.S.”

This family-friendly event will feature free shaved ice treats for kids from Kona Ice, drone demos, a DJ and foam canons, esports, interactive coding activities with Code Ninjas and fiber splicing demonstrations.

In response to a resident-led effort aimed at improving broadband access and options in Dublin, the City conducted a competitive process and contracted with altafiber to provide multi-gig fiber internet access for all residences and businesses.

altafiber has invested nearly $2 billion into its Midwest fiber network to date. The company is committed to creating digital equity in the communities it serves, and is bringing faster, better, greener and more reliable internet to Dublin. altafiber’s innovative approach to technology aligns with Dublin’s mission to be a hub for technology, growth and connectivity while allowing all residents access to broadband internet.
